Roof Repair in Queens Village, NY
Owner-diagnosed roof leaks since 1989 | Licensed and insured
Get in TouchQueens Village is a short drive from our Floral Park office, and we have been repairing roofs across eastern Queens since 1989. The owner, Donall Fingleton, does the leak diagnosis himself, so the person telling you what is wrong is the one who has been doing this for 37 years.
Queens Village is dense. Tudors, Cape Cods, and a lot of older attached and semi-attached two-family homes. When homes share a wall, a leak can start on your roof, your neighbor’s roof or right on the line between them.
Common Roof Leaks on Queens Village Homes
Shared-wall and party-line flashing
On attached and semi-attached homes, the seam where two roofs meet is a common leak point, especially when the two sides were re-roofed at different times with different materials. We work out which side the water is coming from before anything gets torn up, and coordinate with the neighbor when the fix crosses the line.
Flat rear extensions
Many two-family homes here have a flat roof over a rear extension or the back of the house. Seams split, drains clog and water ponds. Patching over a soft spot does not last. The wet insulation or decking underneath has to come out.
Tudor valleys and front gables
The steep front gables on Queens Village Tudors create short, fast valleys. When the valley metal wears out, water gets under the shingles and into the front rooms. Replacing the valley properly usually solves it without touching the rest of the roof.
How We Find the Leak
A water stain on the ceiling almost never sits directly under the hole. Water hits the decking, runs along a rafter or the top of a wall, and drips wherever it finds a low spot. That is why patching the shingles above the stain so often fails.
When you call, Donall comes to your Queens Village home himself. He looks at the stain, goes into the attic when there is access, follows the water marks back up the decking, and then checks the roof at the flashing, valleys, chimney and penetrations above it. You get a straight answer on where the water is coming in and what it takes to stop it, with a written, itemized estimate before any work starts.
Typical repairs include chimney and step flashing, valley replacement, lifted or missing shingles, pipe boots and vents, and flat roof seams and drains. Slate and cedar roofs get repaired with matching material. See our slate and cedar pages for more on those.
Before We Get There
If water is coming in right now, a few things limit the damage until the roof is fixed:
- Put a bucket under the drip and move furniture, rugs and electronics out of the way.
- If a ceiling is bulging with water, keep people out from under it.
- Take photos of the stain and any damage outside. They help with insurance.
- Stay off the roof. Wet shingles and slate are slippery, and walking on them can make the damage worse.
Our hours are Mon - Sat 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Sunday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Call during those hours and we usually get back to you within the hour.

Roof Repair Questions From Queens Village
My attached house leaks near the wall I share with my neighbor. Whose roof is it?
It depends on where the water is getting in, and that is what we find out first. Sometimes it is your side, sometimes theirs, and sometimes it is the cap flashing that covers both. We explain what we find and coordinate with your neighbor if the repair crosses over.
Are you licensed for roof repair in Queens Village?
Yes. Queens Village is in New York City, and we hold a New York City Home Improvement Contractor license (LIC# 1259922).
Who actually comes out to look at my roof in Queens Village?
The owner, Donall Fingleton. He has done every estimate and every leak diagnosis since he started the company in 1989. No sales reps and no one reading from a checklist.
Will you tell me if I need a new roof instead of a repair?
Yes, but only if that is what the roof needs. If the leak is isolated and the rest of the roof has years left, we repair it. If the roof is past its life and leaking in several places, we will say so and explain why. See our roofing page for Queens Village for replacement work.
